Interior rendering is one of the biggest challenges for 3D artists. We must be able to present lighting, materials, and composition as close as possible to real photographs. Corona Renderer is a popular choice because of its natural results and simple workflow.

Here are some tips you can use to improve the quality of your interior renderings.

1. Use Natural Lighting as Much as Possible

Realistic interiors start with natural light. Use:

  • Corona Sun + Sky, or

  • High-quality HDRI

Make sure the light direction matches the room openings for natural-looking results.

2. Combine Low-Intensity Artificial Lights

Use artificial lights as support, not the main source.

  • Warm temperature: 2700–3500K

  • Add ambient lights like hidden LED strips or floor lamps

  • Fine-tune with Corona LightMix

3. Use Complete PBR Materials

Interior materials must be detailed. Use:

  • Diffuse

  • Reflection

  • Roughness

  • Normal/Bump

  • Displacement

Adjust material scale to match real-world size.

4. Use IES for Spotlights

IES creates more natural light patterns. Suitable for:

  • Downlights

  • Wall lamps

  • Track lamps

5. Adjust Exposure Manually

Set exposure so it’s not too bright or too dark. Use:

  • Highlight Compression

  • White Balance

  • Manual Exposure

6. Use a Camera with Soft DOF

Depth of Field adds a photographic feel. Use a subtle DOF for natural results.

7. Add a Bit of Imperfection

Interiors that look too “perfect” will look like CGI. Add:

  • Roughness variation

  • Smudges

  • Subtle noise

  • Imperfection maps

8. Render in High Resolution

For final output:

  • Minimum 2500–3000 px

  • Use Corona High Quality Denoiser

9. Use LUT Carefully

Use LUT only 10–20% so the colors remain natural.

10. Use Real Photo References

Compare your renders with real interior photos to achieve accurate lighting, tone, and mood.
